Site Promotion Tips

Site Promotion is a critical step in creating and maintaining an online presence. Your website will not be listed in search engines until you promote it. If your site is not listed in search engines, and you're not promoting the site, you will not receive any visitors.

Note: Creating your site is only half of the process. You must submit your site to search engines if you want people to be able to get to your site through their search toolbars or search pages.

Your site will not automatically show up in search engines. However, submission to most search engines is completely free!

Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines. The following steps can greatly improve your website’s search results.

1. Add keywords and a description to your site
   Adding Keywords, Titles, Descriptions in the Site Settings section of your account will automatically generate your site Meta Tags. Meta tags are used to catagorize your website in search results.
2. Submit your site to Google
3. Submit your site to Yahoo!
4. Submit your site to ODP/Dmoz.org

5. Get people to link to your site (social networks, youtube, etc.)

Invite members and Notify them of Updates

Sites with at least ten members tend to do 3-4 times better than sites without. Below are a few suggestions on how to get and maintain members.
